For the beginning, just a few bodysuits, rompers, pants, and hats are usually enough. Since premature babies often grow quickly, it makes sense to buy only a small basic wardrobe at first.

Especially during the first few weeks of life, a well-fitting hat helps keep the sensitive head warm. Soft baby bonnets with ties are particularly suitable, as they fit securely and do not slip.

As soon as their size and weight allow, many babies gradually switch to regular baby sizes. How quickly this happens is entirely individual and varies from child to child.

That depends on your baby’s height and weight. Many premature babies initially wear size 44; very small preemies may also wear size 38 or 42. Whenever possible, use your child’s current height as a guide rather than relying solely on age.
