What is a knickerbocker?
We've been calling our growing trousers ‘knickerbockers’ since 2012, when PETIT COCHON was launched. We came up with this name back then because the very long trousers that grow with the child look like historical Knickerbocker trousers when ‘fully grown’, i.e. knee breeches. The long leg cuffs are then (after approx. 2 years) completely rolled up and protect the leg below the knee like a stocking. At the beginning, the long cuffs are folded up and the waistband can also be folded down to provide extra comfort and stability when the trousers are still quite large. PETIT COCHON knickerbockers always have a large pocket (kangaroo pocket) that offers plenty of space for small treasures and can even be reached through. The 2 decorative buttons made from sustainable coconut are also a hallmark of our knickerbockers. The Knickerbockerbocker is an absolute favourite and top seller, and our name for these popular children's trousers has gradually been adopted by many imitators.
How do these growing trousers work?
Thanks to the loose cut and the long cuffs on the stomach and legs, the bloomers with kangaroo pocket will fit for several years. They grow with your child and are always particularly comfortable. Children also love this cut because nothing pinches or squeezes. The long leg cuffs also fit perfectly in boots and don't slip when the child is playing or being carried. This means that legs and stomach are particularly well protected. The children's trousers are easy for young children to put on themselves and even fit over cloth nappies.
How long do the Knickerbocker trousers grow with your child?
Thanks to the clever cut, the Knickerbocker fits most children over 4-6 dress sizes and for at least 2 years, sometimes even longer.
What are growing trousers?
Growing trousers are trousers that children can wear for much longer than normal children's trousers. They adapt to the child's growth phases. By turning up or folding out the cuffs on the stomach and legs, the trousers fit over several dress sizes.
The advantage of this is that there is no need to constantly sort out and buy new items, making consumption much more sustainable.
