Boiled wool combines everything a good outer layer needs: It protects against wind and cold, remains breathable, and keeps your baby comfortable in a variety of weather conditions. Combined with a suitable base layer and insulating layer, it creates a flexible clothing system that can be easily adapted to the season.

Thoroughly airing it out is usually sufficient. Once dry, minor dirt can be carefully brushed out. Only for heavier soiling do we recommend a gentle wool wash cycle with wool detergent.

Feel the back of your baby’s neck regularly. It should be comfortably warm but not damp. Cold hands or feet, on the other hand, are not a reliable indication that your baby is too cold.

Depending on the model and the layers worn underneath, boiled wool is suitable for temperatures ranging from around 18 °C to below freezing. The weather, wind, activity level, and your child’s individual sensitivity to cold are always key factors.

Directly against the skin, we recommend a breathable base layer made from a cashmere blend, micromodal, TENCEL™, bamboo viscose, or organic cotton. In cooler temperatures, a warm layer made from fine knit, organic sweat fabric, or cotton fleece complements the outfit.

Boiled wool is highly wind-resistant. Its dense felted structure reliably protects against cold wind while remaining pleasantly breathable.

Boiled wool is not completely waterproof. Thanks to the natural wool grease (lanolin), the material effectively repels light rain and snow. In prolonged heavy rain, we also recommend waterproof rainwear.

On mild autumn or spring days, a base layer with a boiled-wool outer layer is often sufficient. When it gets colder, a warm layer made of fine knit, organic sweatshirt fabric, or cotton fleece completes the outfit.

The outer layer includes boiled-wool overalls, boiled-wool jackets, boiled-wool trousers, and boiled-wool pull-on hats. They provide protection from wind and weather.

Wool fleece reliably protects against wind, is slightly water-repellent, and breathable at the same time. This keeps your baby comfortably warm without heat or moisture building up.

The outer layer keeps wind and the elements away from the inner layers of clothing. This helps retain your baby’s body heat and prevents them from getting cold as quickly.
