Clean new wool clothing as infrequently as possible.
Thanks to lanolin, new wool has self-cleaning properties. Regular washing is therefore not necessary. Any dirt can be carefully rubbed off with a damp cloth. If there is mud on the clothing, let it dry first and then remove it with a soft brush. We offer the famous miracle brush for this purpose. Stubborn odors can be removed by airing them out in the open air.
Always prefer hand washing.
Woolen baby clothes rarely need to be cleaned, but every now and then. We recommend hand washing. Place the garments in cold water with a little wool detergent. Rinse everything carefully and dry it lying down (e.g. on a towel) after squeezing it out. Do not rub, as the wool will continue to mat.
Tip: Try the shower option: simply hang your woolwalk garment in the shower and rinse with cold water until all the dirt has come out. Then dry lying down.
Wash out the cuffs
It is often only the cotton cuffs on wool garments that are dirty. Our waxed cuffs can also be cleaned quickly in the hand basin with a little hand soap and lukewarm water without having to clean the whole garment.
Use wool wax.
With lanolin - a wool wax found in natural sheep's wool - you can refresh the wool's protection against moisture and dirt after cleaning with water. Frequent wearing also leads to a loss of lanolin. Therefore, apply wool wax to the clothing again with the help of a wool treatment. This will impregnate it and make it last longer.
And when you don't need your favorite woolen items?
Almost everyone has probably experienced it: forgetting your favorite sweater in the wardrobe for 4 months and bang, it has holes. Especially in the summer months, moths can become a problem. The clothes moth lives outside and feeds on organic material. Attracted by the light, they come in through open windows in the warmer months and are happy to find cozy, dark corners in closets and drawers. Fur beetles are just as hungry. They live in floorboards and wooden furniture and love woolly things just as much. Therefore, anything that is not worn regularly should be stored freshly washed and tied up tightly. Conventional plastic bags are usually suitable for this. However, you can also use tightly woven cotton bags. Make sure that they are really tightly knotted so that nothing can crawl into them. Add a small bag of lavender and your favorite things will stay nice and fresh and smell like summer.
