Is Tencel Modal sustainable?

Tencel is a plant fiber and consists primarily of eucalyptus or beech. The wood fibers grow quickly and require little water. In addition, no pesticides are needed for cultivation and Tencel is biodegradable.

The production of TENCEL™ is a chemical process in which an organic solvent (NMMO - N-methylmorpholine N-oxide) is used to dissolve the fibres without chemically altering them. The solvent can then be 99% recovered and reused. All in all, this is a resource-saving, water-saving and energy-efficient cycle. The fibre is certified biodegradable and compostable.
