Sewing instructions for a cuddly star made from teddy fabric scraps

Use fabrics down to the very last scrap—how teddy scraps become a soft cuddly star.

What you need

Sewing instructions 

1. First, print and cut out the appropriate pattern and glue it together if necessary.

2. Now fold your fabric scrap in half so that the cuddly sides are facing each other, and place the pattern on top.

3. Use the felt-tip pen to trace the star onto the fabric on top. Don't forget to mark the opening as well.

4. Now sew the star; your sewing machine should be threaded with white thread.

Sew along the black line, starting just behind the opening. Backstitch once here, sewing backward. After sewing all the way around, backstitch again on the other side of the opening.

5. Next, prepare the filling.

To do this, cut off the remaining fabric around the star, 0.5 cm from the black line.

To make turning it easier, trim the corners straight as well.

Now cut what you trimmed from the star, along with a few other scraps, into small pieces.

6. Now turn the star right side out, with the cuddly side facing outward. You can use the closed felt-tip pen to push out the corners from the inside.

7. To make the star even cuddlier, fill it with the small pieces now.

First fill all the corners except the one with the opening.

Then fill the center of the star.

And then fill the corner with the opening.

How full you make the star—whether softly and loosely filled or plump and full—is entirely up to you.

 8. The final step is to close the opening.

To do this, fold the fabric edges inward and sew close to the edge. Don't forget to backstitch here as well.

Once all the threads have been neatly trimmed, your cuddly star is finished!
